The Slieve Blooms, along with the Massif Central in France, are the oldest mountains in Europe; they were once also the highest at 3,700 metres. Weathering has reduced them to 527 metres.
With hundreds of walking trails and guided tours throughout the year, driving routes for motorists and a network of mountain bike trails, the Slieve Blooms provides the perfect setting to get out and explore the unspoilt magical beauty of Ireland’s oldest mountain range.
All nature lovers will appreciate a visit to the Slieve Blooms as they are rich in flora and fauna and as many as sixty five different bird species have been sighted here and the many glens are alive with the sigh of trees, the rush of water, the sound of birdsong and the bark of deer.
Choose from 17 Slieve Bloom Looped Walks of varying length from trailheads at Kinnitty, Cadamstown, Clonaslee, Glenbarrow and Monicknew. For a full list of walks in the Slieve Blooms click here – https://slievebloom.ie/walking
