The Rock of Loyer Loop is a 3.8 Km route through our sports clubs, hills and farm land overlooking Moneygall village. Parking at our Moneygall Activity Park, the route runs in a clockwise direction through the soccer field with a flat looped track and then back out up through the village and down to our local GAA grounds where you meet a higher walking track which links to Derrycallaghan Road. With a left turn and a slight right, the route ascends along the county boundary line before turning west along the top boundary. Extensive views of the village and countryside are available with The Arra Mountains and River Shannon visible to the west, the Slieve Aughty Mountains to the North and the Slieve Blooms to the east. The route then descends towards a picturesque lane down towards the National School and RC Church. You can then turn right and follow the paving back through St Josephs Park to the Main Street and back towards the activity park. Why not visit Rita’s Kitchen our Community Cafe for some home baking and fresh coffee on your way back to the activity park. This walking route is under lights until 10pm in the Soccer Club, GAA Grounds and Main Street.
